Hue bulbs are designed for indoor use. They are tested under the expected use conditions like temperatures and humidity levels to be able to predict how long they will last and guarantees that your Hue products will work as you expect them to. If you use them in other ways than designed them for they may still work, but can not guarantee. In an outdoor rates luminaire (Europe: IP40 or better / NAM: UL wet or better) there is typically not a problem with water humidity, however heat can build up and negatively affect the lifetime of your Hue product. For outdoor luminaires metal is also a common material, that can block the ZigBee (RF) signal, making it unpredictable/inconsistent to control your Hue light.

Phillips current range of products (Lucca, Tuar, Calla, Ludere and Inara) have been tested with the Hue white bulb, so those specific combinations work and are covered by warranty. If you choose to make other combinations it may work but is not covered by warranty.  

You can replace the Hue white bulb inside Lucca, Tuar, Turaco or Ludere with a standard Hue white bulb. If your lamp breaks under warranty period please contact your retailer or customer support.

Phillips new product range allows you to enjoy all the Hue benefits now also outdoor. Luminaires are designed for perfect light distribution and using these luminaires guarantees that they will have good RF. The bulbs are tested thoroughly to perform under the outdoor conditions* (-20 degrees to + 40 degrees).

You can place it in the ground or mount on a wall. It is UL wet rated (USA) / IP65 (EU), and suitable for use in -20 to +40 degrees Celsius, so perfect for outdoor use. It works like any other light in the Philips Hue system, just turn it on in and add the light to your Hue system through the Hue app and you can control it like all your other Hue lights.

As the Lily is a diffused light source, beam angle measurement is not applicable. The light itself coming from Lily is non directional.

I purchased a product which has a power supply, how do I install this?

Since its low voltage its easy, you can install the luminaire first where you would like to install it, once this is done you can connect the luminaire to your power outlet and it will work. You can at that time also connect it to your bridge, so you can control it and set any colour you like.

What does it mean low voltage?

It basically means the main volt (120v-240v) is converted to a lower volt (24v). Low voltage means that the electrical current through the system is not strong and it won’t cause any harm. Also, because it is so easy you can install it yourself and it doesn’t require and electrician to come to do it for you.

How does the low voltage system work?

You can purchase the base unit which includes everything you need to get started. You install your light points and connect to the power supply. It’s as easy as that. In case you want to extend you can purchase our extension products which also come with everything you need to extend in your system. You can add maximum 5 light points to 1 power supply.

Where can I get a new Power Supply?

You can call Philips customer service desk in case your power supply breaks within the warranty period.

Can I buy the power supply separately?

No, currently the power supply is not sold separately, they are included in the base unit packs.

How long is the cable from power socket to first connector/light point?

The length from the power socket to first connector is 3.5 meters in total. In every base unit you also receive 5 mtr cables so you can plan your first light point at 8.5 meters from the power socket.  

What is the operating voltage of the power supply delivered with the low voltage products

The operating voltage of the low voltage power supply is for EU 220-240v and for USA: 120v.

How long is the extension cable?

The provided extension cable on our Low Voltage products are 5 meters long.

Why do I need an extension cable?

This cable is handy when you need to extend from your power supply to first light point, or when you would like more distance between your light points.

Can I extend 2 or 3 cables together in between light points?

Yes, you can, the total system length should not exceed 35 meters.

Do I need a transformer to use the Low Voltage Hue Outdoor luminaires?

In the base unit this is already included. So always make sure you purchase the base unit pack first.

How many Low Voltage Hue Outdoor luminaires can be connected to one system?

You can connect a maximum of 5 light points to your power supply.

How many products can I add to 1 power supply?

On a 40 Watt PSU you can add 5 products (this statement is only valid for luminaires)

Can I add a dimmer on the Hue low voltage system?

You can dim your hue product with the hue compatible devices, a normal dimmer will not be suitable.

Can I connect hue low voltage products to my existing low voltage system from a different brand?

No, the hue electronic components are only compatible with the Hue low voltage system. In case this happens, your warranty is voided

Where should I install the power supply unit?

It I best to drill this into the wall near your power outlet. Your power supply can be used outdoor.

I like it, how can I extend it?

To start you need to purchase the Base unit – these come with a power supply, cables and T-parts to get you started. At any time, you can extend with luminaires. Make sure you purchase the extension units (see logo) so you can easily add it to you existing system. For now you can connect a maximum of 5 luminaires on 1 power supply.

Can I dim my Outdoor Hue Luminaire?

Yes, you can dim your products using the Hue controls (app, dimmer switch)

Can I use the products in extreme weather conditions?

Our products are safe to use in all weather conditions. The maximum temperature range is -20 to + 40 degrees.

Can all hue low voltage products be combined?

Yes, this is possible for all luminaires, you can combine a maximum of 5 products to 1 40-Watt power supply.

Can the connectors and cables stay in the ground or on the ground?

Yes, the cable and connectors are IP67 rated which means they can perfectly stay in or on the ground. We advise to keep the T parts above the ground so its easier to trace them.

What is the length of the cable per luminaire?

All luminaires come with 60 cm cable. From there you can extend per 5 meter.
